How Trail Map GPS protects your data and respects your privacy

Effective Date: March 12, 2026

Regal Masters / Palo Tata Services Inc ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Trail Map GPS mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service. Please read this policy carefully. By using Trail Map GPS, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and any optional profile information you choose to provide. This enables us to manage your subscription, sync your data across devices, and provide customer support.

Support Communications: When you contact us for help, we collect the information you provide in your messages, including any diagnostic data you share voluntarily.

User-Generated Content: Trail recordings, waypoints, journal entries, photos, and notes you create within the app are stored to provide the trail tracking and journaling features.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

Location Data: Trail Map GPS is a navigation app that requires access to your device's GPS to provide real-time positioning, trail recording, elevation tracking, and route guidance. Location data is collected only when you actively use navigation features or have background tracking enabled for trail recording. You control location permissions through your device settings at all times.

Device Information: We collect device identifiers, operating system version, device model, and app version to manage license activations, ensure compatibility, and diagnose technical issues. Each subscription tier allows activation on a specific number of devices (Plus: 1 device, Pro: 2 devices).

Usage Analytics: We collect anonymized usage data such as which features you use, session duration, and app performance metrics. This data helps us improve the app experience and does not personally identify you.

Offline Map Downloads: When you download maps for offline use, we log the regions downloaded to manage storage and provide relevant map updates. The maps themselves are stored locally on your device.

1.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect payment or billing information. All subscription purchases are processed exclusively through the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, and those platforms handle all payment data according to their own privacy policies. We never see or store your credit card number, bank account, or other financial information.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information for the following purposes:

Core Service Delivery: Providing GPS navigation, trail recording, offline maps, weather data, elevation profiles, and all other app features you expect from Trail Map GPS.

Account & License Management: Verifying your subscription status, managing device activations, syncing data across your authorized devices, and processing trial periods.

App Improvement: Analyzing anonymized usage patterns to improve features, fix bugs, optimize performance, and develop new capabilities that serve hikers and bikers.

Safety Features: Enabling position sharing, SOS emergency alerts, and emergency contact notifications when you choose to use these features.

Communications: Sending essential account notifications (subscription status, security alerts, service changes) and, only with your consent, occasional product updates.

Legal Compliance: Meeting our legal obligations and responding to lawful requests from authorities.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do NOT sell your personal data. We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. We do not use your data to serve advertisements.

We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

Service Providers: We work with trusted service providers who help us operate the app (cloud hosting, analytics, email delivery). These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and may only use it for the services they provide to us.

Position Sharing: When you voluntarily use the position sharing feature, your location is shared with the specific people you choose. You control this entirely.

Emergency Features: When you activate SOS or emergency alert features, your location and emergency information are shared with your designated emergency contacts.

Legal Requirements: We may disclose information when required by law, court order, or governmental authority, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.

Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change.

4. Data Storage and Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS/SSL), encryption at rest for sensitive data, secure access controls, and regular security assessments. Your offline map data and trail recordings are stored locally on your device and are not transmitted unless you choose to sync them.

While we take security seriously, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we are committed to protecting your data using commercially reasonable measures.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information only as long as necessary to provide the Service and fulfill the purposes described in this policy:

Account Data: Retained while your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Trail & Activity Data: Retained while your account is active and available for you to export at any time.

Device & Activation Data: Retained while the device activation is active and for 90 days after deactivation.

Analytics Data: Anonymized analytics data may be retained indefinitely as it does not identify individual users.

Support Communications: Retained for up to 2 years to provide consistent support.

6. Your Rights and Choices

6.1 Location Permissions

You control location access through your device settings. You can grant "While Using" or "Always" permission, or deny location access entirely. Denying location access will limit core navigation and trail recording features but the app will still function for viewing saved data and maps.

6.2 Account Controls

You can update your profile information, export your trail data, or request account deletion at any time by contacting us at support@trailmapgps.com.

6.3 Communication Preferences

You can opt out of non-essential emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in our emails or by contacting support. Essential account notifications (subscription expiration, security alerts) cannot be opted out of while you maintain an active account.

To exercise these rights, contact us at support@trailmapgps.com or submit a request through the app. We will verify your identity and respond within 45 days.

9. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

Trail Map GPS is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@trailmapgps.com.

10. Third-Party Services

Trail Map GPS integrates with the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

Google Play Store / Apple App Store: Subscription billing and app distribution.

Map Tile Providers: We use map data providers to render trail maps, satellite imagery, and terrain layers. Map tile requests include your general geographic area but not personal identifiers.

We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these third-party services.

11. International Data Transfers

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy within the app and, where appropriate, by email. The "Effective Date" at the top reflects the most recent revision. Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
